AAUW Tutors

“The Tempest”

(Airdate: May 13, 2024) On this week’s Attention Please! KPTZ’s Genevieve Barlow interviews the cast and musicians who are putting on the production of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” at Port Townsend High School. Scott Wilson

(Airdate: May 6, 2024) On this week’s Attention Please!, host Jim Burke talks with author Scott Wilson who wrote Working Port: 100 years of the Port of Port Townsend 1924-2024. They discuss the history of the Port and especially the changes around the mill, the boat haven, Point Hudson, the Jefferson County International Airport, the marine trades, and the people who shaped the Port and those who continue to do so.

Genealogy and Master Gardening

For the Jefferson County Genealogical Society, Kathy Poole and Eileen Martin join host Phil Andrus. Jessica Plum and AAUW

(Airdate: April 15, 2024) Attention Please! this week found Taylor Clark at Building 305 speaking with Jessica Plum, the Centrum Arts in the Making Artist-In-Residence this month, about her magical multi-media installation artwork “INNER SPACE” which can be viewed Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11-4 in the South Gallery at 305 on the Fort Worden Campus. Jessica will be giving a talk about this artwork on Wednesday, April 24 from 6-8pm. For the second part of Attention Please!, we welcomed Teri Nomura and Catherine Robinson of AAUW and talked about the upcoming 2024 Home and Kitchen Tour, inspired by some very intriguing Port Townsend homes. The tour is all in Uptown, and may be walked. It takes place Saturday, April 27. More information is available at aauwpt.org.

Moving in the Right Direction

(Airdate: April 8, 2024) Taylor Clark toured around Port Townsend with Scott Walker from the Local 2020 Transportation Lab as we looked at transportation problems and solutions. The Transportation Lab is putting on a one day conference called “Moving in the Right Direction” to consider how transportation policy contributes to building a livable, and wonderful community.
